Associate Director of Education & Practical Learning
RESPONSIBILITIES
In the first 18-24 months, job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Learn Education Department programming and scope and support Director of Education in management and growth of department and programming.
- Learn full history of the Apprentice Program and other practical education programs at The Huntington. (Co-Ops, high school student interns, Brighter Boston partnership, etc.)
- Work with Department Heads to best determine collaboration and partnership for current practical education opportunities.

- Manage all partnerships that provide practical learning at The Huntington.

Associate Director of Production
The Associate Director of Production collaborates with the Director of Production to manage operations and administration of all production department activities. They are at the center of communications between Production Department heads, designers, and other departments of the company. They will assist the Director of Production in managing and supervising production department employees across three locations: the soon-to-be-renovated Huntington Avenue Theatre, the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, and the Everett Production Center. They serve as lead Production Manager on 2-4 productions per season: shepherding the design process, working closely with production staff and visiting artists to accomplish artistic goals and meet deadlines in a timely and cost-effective way, with night and weekend hours expected to support tech rehearsals and the preview process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate communication and workflow among all production departments, artistic and production teams, theatre management at both the HAT and the Calderwood, and other Huntington departments.
- Leads the production management of projects as assigned by the Director of Production
- Assist Director of Production in establishing and maintaining departmental standards and practices.

As second in command in the scene shop the Associate Technical Director is an integral part of the Huntington’s Technical Direction team. The Associate Technical Director works on both Huntington shows and facilitates work we job-in for outside companies in our Production Center. The Associate Technical Director will be responsible for the technical design of scenery based on designer or client drawings, research and ordering of specialty hardware and material, drafting, construction, and installation of Huntington Productions and additional jobs as directed by the TD. This position oversees shows from the technical design through production on shop floor, through installation in the space, and through strike. For an outside project or co-production, the Associate TD is also responsible for all as-built documents and instructions for assembly on-site and may travel to assist with install when needed. The Associate TD will also assist the Technical Director in budget estimates and specifications for upcoming or new projects. The Associate TD will also (supervise, direct, oversee, something like that) the Automation department.
The Associate TD works in an office team of 4 people and scenery team of 10 members to create high quality scenery in a positive and supporting environment. The Huntington scene shop has a reputation for creating high quality scenery and seeks individuals who share this goal. Our keen ability to work with many different products has allowed us to fabricate unique, high-end architectural items for architects around the country.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tech Design/Drafting/Show Maintenance:
- Serves as lead technical manager on assigned shows and projects coordinating with design team directly.
- Serves as primary drafter for assigned projects.
- Prepares and maintains schedules including build, install, maintenance, and strike.
- Directs and assists shop Foreman in builds as required; coordinates with other production departments to maintain show schedule.
- Serves as lead for load-in and installation of the project, coordinating with other production departments.
- Attends technical rehearsals, including as a representative of the TD team for projects led by others, to take notes and make decisions on notes that need to occur on the next day and in the future. Develop a clear plan and disseminate information for the team to work from the next morning.
- Serves as primary contact for show technical issues once show is up and running through strike.
- Leads maintenance on shows and serves as chief inspector on shows with moving elements.
- Communicates clearly to TD project status including any budgetary or schedule deviations.
- Archives project once complete. Compiling drawings, notes, purchases, and other show paperwork to be useful for future project research.
- Serve as lead automation specialist for automated productions.
Shop management:
- Serves as 2nd in line to make decisions if the TD is offsite.
- May be assigned machines and or areas of the shop to spearhead maintenance and training.
- May be required to lead building maintenance or improvement projects in all HTC spaces
- Assists in the management of the operations of the scene shop, helps develop and supervise regular maintenance and safety programs.

Responsible for ensuring that the audience and staff enjoy a safe and respectful environmentby delivering the best possible level of customer service at all times.

Finance Manager
The Finance Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate maintenance of the general ledger including month and year-end closings. Additional responsibilities include financial statements preparation for The Huntington and individual departments. The Huntington Theatre Management Associate is a key player in the operations team of the Huntington Theatre for the Huntington Theatre Company. The primary focus of this position is supporting the Huntington Theatre Manager and House Manager, in their clerical, accounting, and scheduling responsibilities. This position will interact with rental clients and vendors of the Huntington Theatre to ensure our daily operations run smoothly. - Assists Huntington Theatre Manager with financial tracking of the Huntington Theatre including invoice generation, completion of accounting forms, and organizing revenue and expense records.

STATEMENT OF JOB:
Assists the Props Director and Associate Props Director in all aspects of creating theatrical props for Huntington productions and outside projects. This includes researching, acquiring, building, buying and altering props. May supervise casual labor and is expected to spend significant time in the hands-on construction of the properties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research, including photographing and shopping for props based on designer drawings and/or specifications.
- Building furniture using either wood or metal, and upholstery as necessary.
- Maintaining organized and clean storage and shop spaces.
- Following and promoting safe working practices in the use of scene shop tools and equipment.
- During tech week, dress rehearsal, and previews, completing production notes that involve repairing, reworking, and building hand props and furniture as well as acquiring additions.
