Boston Regional August Wilson Monologue Competition

The August Wilson Monologue Competition celebrates the writing of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright. Huntington staff and teaching artists work with high school students from selected Boston Public Schools to introduce Wilson and his Century Cycle, support script analysis and character development, and coach them as they prepare monologues for performance and competition. Learn more.

Poetry Out Loud Massachusetts

Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest that celebrates the power of the spoken word and a mastery of public speaking skills while cultivating self-confidence and an appreciation of students’ literary heritage as they take poetry from the page to the stage. EPIC: Empowered Performers in Conversation

EPIC: Empowered Performers in Conversation

EPIC is an after school program which provides the opportunity for student playwrights, actors, directors, and theatre enthusiasts to tackle issues of most importance to them. Through deliberate research and debate, writing exercises, ensemble building and acting training, students are mentored, by members of the Education Staff, through the process of creating an original piece of theatre which addresses a current challenge affecting young people. Learn more.
