COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH POLICIES

As The Huntington’s plans are evolving, we will continue to update this webpage with the most up-to-date information available.

We at The Huntington are excited about the return to live theatre and are eager to welcome you back through our doors!

We care deeply about the wellbeing and safety of our audiences, artists, and staff, and have been closely monitoring the evolving CDC guidance on COVID and its impact on our local community. For the safety and comfort of all who attend our shows, we are implementing the following protocols until further notice:

All patrons, regardless of age, must present proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 or a recent negative test (PCR test within 72 hours, Antigen test within 24 hours) in order to enter the theatre.

  • Proof of vaccination or negative test can be easily provided by:
    • Showing your physical vaccination card or a photo of your card
    • Showing a digital health record such as Mass.gov Vax Finder, MyChart, CVS app.
    • Showing appropriately timed COVID test results from a testing center, medical facility, or a time-stamped photo of a recent at-home test.
    • Using Bindle, an easy-to-use, free app that keeps your information private, secure, and makes entry hassle-free. Instructions for how to set up this app on your phone can be found here: joinbindle.com/calderwoodpavilion/
    • Using the B Together City of Boston app - an easy-to-use, free app that makes it easy to find a picture of your vaccination card on your phone.
  • Well-fitted masks covering your mouth and nose must be worn at all times in all areas of the theatre.
  • If on the day of the performance you are experiencing any COVID symptoms, stay home and contact ticketing services for more information about exchanges or potential digital viewing options.
  • All tickets for Huntington productions at the Calderwood Pavilion come with digital insurance, and any ticketholders who would rather not see a performance in person for any reason can easily exchange their in-person tickets for a home viewing opportunity of a specially recorded version of the play.
  • We will continue to evaluate and update these policies as the situation evolves. For the most up-to-date information on our health and safety policies and season shows, please visit this page.

Thank you in advance for your help in keeping everyone safe at the theatre. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

I thought Boston dropped the vaccine requirement for indoor venues?
We had a vaccine or negative test requirement in place long before Boston's B Together Vaccine Requirement rolled out. Now that the city mandate has been discontinued, we have returned to our previous policy requiring proof of full vaccination or a recent negative test. We believe these policies have kept our staff, patrons, and artists safe and comfortable all season long, and we do not believe the time is right to discontinue them.

I thought Boston discontinued the mask mandate?
We continue to require masks at this time for the safety and comfort of our staff, patrons, and artists.

What does "Full Vaccination" mean? Does that include Boosters?
"Full vaccination" is 14 days past completion of a primary series of COVID-19 vaccination (for most people, this is 1 dose of J&J, 2 doses of Moderna/Pfizer). We are not requiring audiences to have Boosters at this time, but we do encourage you to get Boosted if you are eligible.

Has The Huntington upgraded the Calderwood Pavilion’s air filtration system?
Yes, the Calderwood Pavilion HVAC system has been upgraded with MERV-13 filters and our air changes per hour exceed standards for performance spaces.

Will concessions be available at the theatre?
We will not be offering concessions at performances for the time being and apologize for the inconvenience.

Will printed programs be available?
Yes, there will be printed programs available for patrons, as well as a digital program that can be easily accessed on our website.

Will the performers wear masks on stage?
The performers will not wear masks during the performance. Otherwise, masks are required of everyone at all times throughout the building.

What is the easiest way to show proof of vaccination or negative test for entry into the theatre?
Patrons can show their vaccination card, a photo of their card, or can show a digital vaccine record. They can also show test results from a testing center (such as one available at https://www.mass.gov/info-details/find-a-covid-19-test), a medical facility (doctor's office or hospital), or a time-stamped photo of a recent at-home test.

The Huntington is partnering with Bindle, a digital app that securely stores health information allowing you to privately share your COVID vaccination or test status. Instructions for how to set up this app on your phone can be found here: joinbindle.com/calderwoodpavilion/

What happens if a patron comes to the theatre but doesn’t have proof of full vaccination or recent negative test?
Patrons who are not able to show proof of full vaccination or recent negative test at the door will not be permitted to enter. They can exchange their tickets into a future performance when they are able to show proof or into access to the digital recording of the performance when available. A digital recording of The Bluest Eye is available through ticketing services, but a digital recording of What the Constitution Means to Me is not.

Do these policies apply to student groups and K-12 student matinees?
Yes, these policies apply to student groups and student matinees. For more information regarding student groups for grades K-12, please contact Director of Education Meg O’Brien at mobrien@huntingtontheatre.org.

I have tickets to What The Constitution Means to Me at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre. Do these policies still apply to me?
Yes! The policies are the same for all Huntington shows.

Are you only accepting proof of certain COVID vaccines?
We will accept proof of FDA or WHO approved COVID vaccines. This includes but is not limited to Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca.

Are you only accepting proof of certain COVID tests?
There are various PCR and Antigen tests available in Boston, both at testing sites or for purchase at stores such as CVS. Free at home tests are also available for order at https://special.usps.com/testkits. The only tests we are not able to accept are antibody tests, as they don't give any indication as to whether an individual has a COVID infection. Please make sure you check the timing of your test and your performance to make sure your PCR test is taken no more than 72 hours before curtain and your antigen test is taken no more than 24 hours before curtain. This timing refers to when the test was taken (not when the test results become available).

Current as of Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
